Collection: Dreamlike

Oneirism is, in every sense, a disturbance—a blurring of reality by the dream. For the Surrealists, however, it was not a distortion but a higher form of perception. André Breton called it “the great school of inner freedom”; it is an imagination that subverts material constraints in order to free itself from them.

Oneirism reminds us that dreaming takes up far more than a third of a human life; artists are the guides who ferry us across that river.
